Employment law is nothing but the code of conduct which governs the relationship between an employee and an employer. The employer has certain responsibilities towards an employee, and also the employee has to fulfill their responsibilities towards the employer. Either party cannot take undue advantage of each other. However, statistics show that there are more cases where the employee is suing the employer for various reasons. The cause may be anything. It can be negligence on the employer’s behalf or it may be some other problem like discrimination due to age or unequal pay.

The employment law dictates specific set of rules for the employer as well as the employee. They have to follow these rules no matter what the personnel contract mentions. If the federal laws find that either one of them has not followed the rules, then it has the right to persecute them.

A century ago there was slave trade in the United States and employing slaves was legal. However, those times have changed with the inception of Equal Opportunity Act. There were no more slaves because of this employment act. There will be constant changes made to the Employment Act because of the change in the dynamics of the economic situation and also the society. Every year thousands of people file for citizenships in the United States, and they all have to be covered.
