Unemployment is a state where a person wants to work, but there are no opportunities available for the person. Therefore, he or she is without work due to the lack of opportunities.
The status of unemployment in a country is denoted through the rate of unemployment. This gives an idea in terms of percentage as to how many people are without jobs or unemployed. There are five sorts of unemployment that have been identified by experts. They say that some of the types like the seasonal and the frictional unemployment can exist in any country. Seasonal employment is the type where the rate of unemployment goes up seasonally. This particularly applies to a few industries like tourism industry or hospitality industry. Frictional unemployment usually occurs in the interim period where a person is in the process of changing his or her job, and is unemployed between the two jobs.
Cyclical unemployment is the state of being jobless on account of a bad economy. It is believed to be the most dangerous kind of unemployment. Recovering fromthis kind of unemployment is always a huge challenge. Also, recession and bad economy create unemployment in large numbers, and unemployment makes the recession worse. So, it is like a vicious cycle.
Structural unemployment takes place when there is a lack of labor, or the labor lacks the necessary skills to perform most of the jobs.
